GDP as a measure of our crumbling system no longer works. Despite being gas lit by our politicians people are having to work twice as hard because they can only afford half the stuff.
The greed based ‘kick the can down the road’ linear model of take make, break and waste, then blames the brainwashed consumers it is greenwashing and rinsing into poverty. The end game: all the proceeds are transferred into cash winnings for the 1% and real asset losses for the 99% along with the lovely planet we live on. We, the many, need to start thinking in the right circles, a bit like the few do. Granted degrowth needs refining including a more brand friendly name ( David Abosch MBA and Tawanda Bwerudza ) but start small Sow those seeds and Study how to Sustain.

Rishi Sunak, unelected bankster stooge, boasts of reducing inflation. That surely has to be an oxymoron taken up by the media to mystify the masses, when the price hikes are baked in so deep that only deflation would take things back to 2019. Since then he and the other Western leaders gifted $35tn in money printing to private equity spivs, big business and the billionaires it has gorged. Meanwhile the middle and working classes have merged, killing aspiration in both their personal and working lives.
What’s left of free market capitalism sees business closures on a massive scale, unable to pay energy bills, wage increases or meet the challenge of the monopoly or cartel mafia practices of big business. They are the one’s implementing automation and robotics on a huge scale to cull millions of jobs. Not that the Office of National Statistics is doing it’s job, hiding this under ‘economically inactive, but bottom line we have 25-30% of folk out of work.
Without competition we have no innovation or growth, just rent seekers like Amazon who have created their own market places – marketing meets logistics for all the stuff and data we want. They may keep the last mile human but the bots will very soon be doing the rest of the work
Far too many people are seeing that work to live is only working for the 1%. The work ethic is dead when even the middle and upper class are dead men walking because they cannot keep making more and more money every year just to stand still.
Defaults are highest in £3m plus homes and high end cars in the the UK but housing and energy have hammered businesses and consumers at all levels.
Perhaps worst of all, the utter garbage we eat, thanks to big business taking nearly the whole slice of the supply chain and manufacturing pie thanks to the supermarkets collusion and greed. Leveraged buy-outs and clever tax planning means they keep what they kill.

Our need for natural nutrition and a desire for health and wellness is the Achilles heel where our fight back starts. Until these bullies put in the red take to stop us, we go degrowth food growth, using non GDP community wealth building to achieve nutritional healthy food resilience. Integrating circular and vertical community food growing into a degrowth and circular economy strategy will significantly contribute to tackling global warming and achieving net zero goals.
Degrowth Principles
- Reduced Consumption and Waste: Sow, Study, Sustain likely emphasizes efficient resource use within its vertical farming systems, minimizing waste and encouraging mindful consumption through community education.
- Community Empowerment: Community gardens and hands-on involvement championed by Sow, Study, Sustain promote active participation in food systems, leading to reduced reliance on unsustainable industrial agriculture.
- Reconnecting with Nature: Sow, Study, Sustain’s initiatives likely focus on teaching people about the natural processes involved in food production, fostering a deeper understanding of ecological limits and a commitment to sustainability.
Circular Economy
- Closed-Loop Systems: Sow, Study, Sustain’s vertical farming systems, particularly those using aquaponics or hydroponics, exemplify closed-loop food production within urban settings, maximising resource efficiency.
- Nutrient Recycling: Sow, Study, Sustain integrates composting and nutrient recovery within both community garden and vertical farm setups, closing the resource loop and reducing the need for external fertilizers.
- Urban Greening: Using rooftops, walls, and underused urban spaces fits Sow, Study, Sustain’s focus, increasing green cover within cities and mitigating negative environmental impacts.
Tackling Global Warming and Net Zero
- Reduced Carbon Footprint: Sow, Study, Sustain’s emphasis on localised food systems drastically reduces emissions associated with transportation and industrial agriculture practices.
- Soil as Carbon Sink: Community gardens following the Sow, Study, Sustain model prioritise soil health and regenerative practices, aiding in carbon sequestration and contributing to climate change mitigation.
- Resilient Food Systems: Sow, Study, Sustain’s model builds local food security and community resilience, which will be crucial as the GDP based model and climate change disrupts traditional food systems.
Integrating Sow, Study, Sustain into a Strategy
To successfully integrate Sow, Study, Sustain into a wider degrowth and circular economy strategy, consider:
- Partnerships: We must collaborate with local authorities, schools, and other community organisations to promote and integrate community food growing initiatives within the broader strategic framework.
- Education and Awareness: Sow, Study, Sustain can play a key role in educating communities about the environmental, social, and economic benefits of the community based food production model, directly linking these benefits to degrowth, circular economy, and climate action goals.
- Policy Support: We must join together to advocate for policies that support urban regenerative agriculture, vertical farming, and circular food systems, including incentives, zoning for supply and coordinated local infrastructure development.
