Sow Study Sustain Regenerative Horticulture

Regenerative horticulture and circular economy is integral to our Sow Study Sustain  community growing, but what is Regenerative Horticulture aka Regenerative Agriculture?

It’s growing the natural way and encompasses the principles of permaculture (that simulates natural ecosystems), organics (the use of natural fertilisers and pest control) and no dig (mulching with organic manure/compost on the surface – not digging in – therefore simulating natural soil fertility processes).

Regenerative Horticulture and Agriculture is a holistic management approach that improves the three environmental resources it uses, soil, water and sunlight. Regenerative agriculture relates to understanding the natural interactions of sunlight, plants, soils, animals, and micro-organisms, while SOW Study Sustain and Regenerative Horticulture concentrates on soil health, biodiversity, and the conservation of resources which enables micro farms to be sustainable, families to thrive, communities to prosper and the climate to become more resilient.

Resilience and Regenerative Horticulture is more than a fundamental shift in our cultures relationship with nature, because it also ends take make waste and the need for agricultural chemicals. The linear cycle has to be replaced with a circular economy if we are to survive and thrive on a planet of finite resources. Particularly as the greedy 1% and their political and media servants are not interested in the concepts of sustainability and fair share.
